Newsroom standards

Where our news comes from—and what we are allowed to do with it.

MotorDealerHub discovers stories, verifies the original source and writes dealer-focused context. It does not copy publisher articles or automatically reuse publisher photography.

LOWER-RISK SOURCE LANE

Open government information

ACCC, ABS and specifically identified Australian Government material can be used where the page carries a Creative Commons licence. Required attribution and exclusions still apply.

  • Confirm the licence on the source page
  • Attribute the relevant department
  • Exclude logos, third-party material and protected marks
  • Check currency before publishing
DISCOVERY-ONLY LANE

Association RSS feeds

AADA and FCAI public RSS feeds are used to discover titles and links. New items become unpublished drafts and require an editor to write an original summary.

  • No copied article body
  • No automatic publisher imagery
  • Direct link to the original report
  • Human review before publication
PERMISSION REQUIRED

Commercial publishers

Commercial news sites remain manual and review-only unless a written syndication or licensing agreement says otherwise.

  • Do not bypass paywalls
  • Do not scrape full articles
  • Do not republish photos
  • Seek a licence for ongoing syndication
The operating rule

Facts may be checked against primary sources, but MotorDealerHub’s wording, analysis and dealer take must be original. When in doubt, link out and publish less.
